thought-leaders and real-life success stories.

Connect with a supportive and inspirational network
of your performance measurement peers.

If you're a Corporate Planner, Business Analyst, Performance Measurement Practitioner or Consultant, and you truly believe in the transformational power of measuring what matters, but you're:

  • struggling to engage managers and colleagues to feel even a fraction of your passion for measuring and managing performance

  • feeling isolated in the performance field, where too few people around you have mastered it sufficiently

  • searching for better performance measurement practices, that make it easier and quicker to get people measuring what matters

  • wanting to make a profound and transformational difference through your work, by helping others to more quickly and easily reach business or organisational goals

  • ready to invest in yourself and your career, and grow your professional expertise in performance measurement and performance management

... then we're two peas from the same pod!

This is very much how I personally felt for the first 10 years or so of my career as a Performance Measurement Practitioner.

But now's a different story: 16 years since starting my career as a Performance Measurement Practitioner, I'm routinely engaging even the greatest cynics in performance measurement, I'm connected to a world-wide network of leading performance measurement experts, I'm using and teaching performance measurement techniques that work for my clients time and again.

And I see myself very much as a performance leader, someone who stands for the idea that all businesses and organisations can be (and should be) transformed through measuring what matters, someone who actively and continuously pursues that vision.

You are a performance leader too,
and the world needs you!

Fiona Issel, who attended my Performance Measure Bluerpint Workshop in 2007, became a charter member of my Measures & More Mastermind and also one of the real-life case study interviews I did as part of this program. Fiona is a shining example of what you can achieve when you see yourself as a performance leader, and not just someone who does performance measurement when they get the opportunity.

In my interview with Fiona, she said something very wise:

"This was the first thing I learnt in this role was that you have to embrace the persona of being the champion of performance measures and always have this in front of you regardless of what people think or perceive your role to be. You must be strong enough to correct people and say this is what I do and this is the level of professionalism that I expect from you."

In two years, Fiona experienced a 180 degree flip, from being seen by her internal customers as the one who chases people for data for annoying performance reports, to being chased by those same people for the latest issue of those performance reports, and for advice on how to measure and how to improve their performance. Even the most cynical managers in her organisation are now her greatest advocates.

If we want our organisations to embrace performance measurement, to take responsibility for performance and take strategic and operational goals seriously, it's not them that have to change. It's us.

We have to step up and lead the performance revolution. We have to be bold and confident and committed, like Fiona was (and still is). We have to find the ways that will engage people in measuring what matters. We have to grow and develop our skills and knowledge and confidence. We have to open up to learn from the successes and failures and ideas of others. We have to embody the persona of "performance measurement champion", as Fiona said.

And this performance leadership role will, for many of us, demand more skill and expertise and professionalism than we currently have.

Don't do what I did -
it's too hard and takes too long!

Aside from my manager, who hired me as the Measurement Consultant for a rail corporation in 1993, I was a lone voice for performance measurement in my organisation.

My manager always said to me that I had to become a good marketer, to make measurement "sexy" so people would become interested in it and give their time to it.

I had no mentors, so had to figure out what worked and what didn't by trial and error. I had to be bold, and be prepared to fall on my face many times before I got it right.

Probably the worst experience I had, which brought me to tears in the ladies' restroom afterwards, was when I was literally screamed at by a Safety Manager who took one look at the time series chart I had made for him, which showed no change in performance for over two years.

Now I understand why he screamed at me (it showed his strategies had been ineffective and he lost face in front of his peers), but that was the start of how I learned ways to get buy-in from people to measuring performance.

I was also tired of the superficial information I was learning from conferences and training courses, where no-one got any more specific about the how-to process for performance measurement other than to say "now, develop KPIs".

So I found myself piecing together ideas from other fields, like psychology and quality management and process improvement and mathematical statistics and systems thinking, to build those detailed how-to steps I craved, to make the impact I so wanted to make.

That's how my own end-to-end, step-by-step performance measurement approach, PuMP, was born.

But, I had to learn almost exclusively
from my own experience.

Now, learning from your own experience is a good thing, but not when that's your primary source of learning! You make mistakes you don't have to, and you miss out of the benefits on short cuts and strategies that are working wonders for others.

Even Fiona Issel needed some help to achieve the transformation in her organisation in those 2 years (which she originally got at the Performance Measure Blueprint Workshop and continues to get as a Measures & More Mastermind member).

Learning only by trial and error is why it takes too long to build a performance measurement system that transforms your organisation, and why it will take so much of your energy and passion that you'll likely burn out before you make a real difference.

Do you relate to this?

Let's learn how to be outstanding
Performance Measurement Practitioners,
with and from each other.

Reading a performance measurement book won't do it. Neither will attending a performance measurement conference or single training event. Exploring performance measurement websites won't do it (no, not even my website!). Being ad hoc and inconsistent about our learning most certainly won't do it.

And, of course, waiting for our organisational and business leaders to "see the light" certainly won't do it!

The fastest way to transform our organisations and businesses through measuring what matters is to rally together and share our successes, our failures, our questions, our fears, our aspirations, to actively and continuously test and learn what works, and all the time stay focused and inspired on making a difference.

We'll all grow and achieve so much faster if we learn with and from each other.

Are you ready to take action?

What I'm passionate about is the transformational power of performance measurement, its unrivalled ability to focus people on achieving what matters most, its accelerational role in ridding our businesses - our organisations, our world - of waste, and helping us shape the world into a better place for everyone.

And if you're passionate about this too, then my guess is that you're just the right person to invite into my Measures & More Mastermind.

It's a network for Performance Measurement Practitioners who take their performance career and their performance leadership role seriously, and don't want to live with the risks of learning solely from experience, isolated from a community of practice.

Measures & More is a coaching program too, that gives Performance Measurement Practitioners regular access to the latest ideas, global experts and better practices in the field of performance measurement, in bite-sized and convenient and practical chunks.

Let me explain how the Measures & More Mastermind works...

You'll grow your repertoire of techniques consistently, conveniently and quickly, to measure what matters, engage your colleagues and transform your organisation's performance.

Measures & More is an ongoing monthly membership program, designed to support you with a variety of learning opportunities that you can access in your own time, in your own place and at your own pace.

As a GOLD Measures & More member, you get access to a fabulous range of time-saving, confidence-building, practical performance measurement resources.

Set aside 60-90 minutes each week (you should be spending at least that on your ongoing professional development). Then you'll have plenty of time to absorb and translate the resources most pertinent to you right now into action, to improve your everyday performance measurement practice:

  • Monthly Expert Interview webcasts where I interview the leading global experts and authors on the latest performance measurement topics, frameworks and methods. And I give you direct access to ask them your questions!

  • Monthly How-to Class webcasts with me and specially selected guests to give you the steps to master specific topics in implementing performance measurement.

  • Occasional Q&A Webcasts hosted conveniently via phone and webcast, to answer your own questions on topics related to peformance measurement.

  • Online Audio Archives of our mastermind webcasts, to have at your fingertips the topics currently most relevant to you, which you can listen to online or download to your computer or mp3 player.

  • Measures & More Monthly newsletter, filled with my little secrets for making measurement fun and overcoming the common challenges we all face at times, posted directly to you each month.

  • Occasional Private Laser Coaching Call-in Days for you to phone or Skype me for a one-on-one 10 minute focused coaching session, where we brainstorm ideas or discuss a tip to assist you with a performance measurement challenge you’re facing. Note: this coaching is on a first come, first served basis – we do not take bookings, but do announce the upcoming call-in times within which you can call me at your convenience.

  • Weekly update emails, with upcoming events, coaching call-in times, quick tips and more, so you don't miss a thing!

I also offer a free level of membership in Measures & More, designed to give you a little taste of the GOLD tier and to help you feel confident that the GOLD membership is truly going to boost your expertise and professionalism as a Performance Measurement Practitioner.

As a SILVER Measures & More member, you get:

  • Limited access to Monthly Expert Interview webcasts where I interview global experts and authors on the latest performance measurement topics - and you can listen live or or listen to the online replay for a period of 24 hours following the live event. (GOLD members have unlimited access to the online replays and can download the mp3 recordings of all the webcasts we've ever done.)

  • Limited access to Quarterly Q&A webcasts hosted conveniently via phone and webcast, to answer your own questions on topics related to peformance measurement - and you can listen live or listen to the online replay for a period of 24 hours following the live event. (GOLD members have unlimited access to the online replays and can download the mp3 recordings of all the webcasts we've ever done.)

  • Weekly update emails, so you don't miss a thing!

Measures & More members love this variety of resources, and even though sometimes they're overwhelmed with how much they get each month, GOLD members know they can always go back and look through the online archives for a particular topic, when it becomes relevant to the work they're doing or the challenges they're facing at the time.

Enabled Me To Be Seen As A Thought Leader In Measurement

"I have been privileged to be a part of Measures & More from day one. I find that being part of the group is like having a personal fitness trainer that continually encourages me.

Listening to the interviews and discussions are now part of my schedule that I seldom miss. I once new I would be travelling during the interview, so I arranged with someone (my son in law who loves driving my BMW) to drive me so that I could sit in the back of the car listening and making notes.

My colleagues and others now fully accept that I am not available during the Measures & More sessions. In fact as far as they are concerned I am never available between 9 and 10 on a Tuesday! As a bonus I can ask questions and have answers on the spot!

It is a constant reminder to everyone around me that I am continuously studying the various aspects of Performance Measurement. The Measures & More group has enabled me to be seen as a thought leader in measurement. It strengthens my claim: "Francois is a recognized authority on Performance Measurement, Business Intelligence Systems, Statistical Data Analysis and Reporting for Businesses.""

Keeping Me On Track And Energised!

"I personally find the regular Measures and More updates (newsletter and webcasts) continue to remind me of the impact that good measures have on business performance and achieving the results my organisation is seeking. I feel I am a member of a growing, creative and effective group of people. I find that their solutions and enthusiasm are helpful in keeping me on track and energised. The newsletter is pithy and among its many its jewels are concentrated and practical answers.

If I miss the webcast, it is easy to download and listen the discussion. There always seems to be a new idea or creative solutions I can add to my techniques. I look forward to when the online discussion forums develop into a collective resource where a number of practitioners provide answers and support to each other."

Peter Clark, Planning Manager for a not-for-profit organisation, Melbourne, Australia

My Confidence In Applying And Explaining Measures Continues To Grow...

"My development journey is supported by Stacey's Measures & More Mastermind program which provides online and immediate access to practical tips, local and international resources and a line-up of performance measure experts who you can interact with via teleconferences that are skillfully facilitated by Stacey.

The program has helped me to put performance measurement at the heart of all my professional discussions on strategic and business planning, business process management and financial performance. Stacey's online program is engaging and you choose how much benefit you receive by the extent to which you share the passion and the knowledge with others in your organisation. The exciting part is that your information and applied knowledge is conveniently packaged online right to your desktop."

What Better Learning Forum Than Hearing How Others Are Getting On!

"In October, after completing my Masters, I joined the Measures & More Mastermind program so that I could keep in touch with "the latest goings on" in Business Performance Measurement. There are very few forums where people interested in formally measuring business performance (beyond just purely financial measures) can share their experiences and learn from each other, and this is where the Measures & More Mastermind program comes into its own.

The Measures & More Monthly newsletter is great in that it is full of useful advice and little tips. It makes great 'lunch-time' reading as well as being very useful to leave around for others to pick up and glance through, and in that way facilitate them in seeing the importance not only of measuring but measuring the right things. However, I must admit I'm a bit of a 'magpie' because I want to keep all the issues for ME.

Also, I love the case studies, because they bring performance measurement to life: what better learning forum than hearing how others are getting on! However, I rarely listen live, because I live on the other side of the world - Ireland - and it's normally sometime between 12.30 midnight and 1.30am when the webcasts take place. However, I do download them and enjoy listening on my i-Pod when I'm driving on a long journey, which incidentally is rarely more than two hours!"

Helen Ahern, Nicholas Mosse Pottery, Ireland

Easily Accessible And Credible Source of Performance Measurement Information!

"Being a member of Measures & More has been a huge bonus when it comes to an easily accessible and credible source of performance measurement information. The monthly newsletters are great to have on hand for staff development ideas as well as something tangible to share with internal customers.

Working in an industry where there is no real standard, and the right approach can be a question dominated by personal bias and company legacy, it is reassuring to find a source of information that is both relevant and open to discussion. I have found other memberships which seem to have a lot of information and very little meaning, but Measures & More has helped increase my library of PM books and resources as well as enabling an open forum to ask questions and discuss common problems."

Sophie Giesen, Brisbane, Australia

Information So Easy To Follow And Understand!

"The value I get from being a Measures and More member includes:

- Really relevant, topical, useable tips and guidance around defining measures better, using measures more effectively, getting people’s buy in, and generally the headspace from which to work when working with measures, to maximize their usefulness.

- The teleseminars are excellent, particularly when being able to learn how Stacey has dealt with common challenges, as well as what others do.

- It is Stacey’s communication style, both verbal and written, that I find so easy to follow and understand – she has a way of saying what she really means in a way that is understood by the audience – I think it has a lot to do with minimal use of weasel words. Sounds obvious I know, but is so refreshing!"

Kylie McIntosh, HR Officer in a pharmaceuticals company, Sydney, Australia
