Stacey Barr
the Performance Measure Specialist

"Hi Stacey, I have been so fortunate to have gone through the Performance Measure Blueprint Online Program. This has completely changed my approach and appreciation of performance measureurement, especially in the public sector. I never thought developing performance measures for the public sector organisation could be so painless, simplified and practical. You are making an enormous contribution in the world of strategic management through PuMP. Thank You!"

Charles Assey, Advisor, Strategic Planning and Performance Review, Bank of Tanzania Dar es Salaam.

"So far this training has met and exceeded my expectations! I am a program evaluator by training and specialize in data visualization. I learned about Stacey from Stephen Few at a training of his last year and am so glad that he referred me to you. This process will enhance the work I am doing right now with my clients and help them better measure their social sector organizations' impact."

Veronica Smith, MSEE, Managing Director, data2insight (www.data2insight.com)

"We've just started doing workshops with each department using the 'How to design meaningful performance measures' templates and so far they are working great. Thinking about the end in mind first and allowing time to really think about what the KPI would look and feel like really seems to be getting people thinking. We have come up with some great objectives and measures. Thank you for such a easy to understand and useful tool."

Justine Fisher, Business Analyst, Queenstown Lakes District Council, New Zealand

"I actually used the report template you gave us at the workshop, to help provide a report to the CEO on the measures the executive management already have in place. The CEO and executive were all really impressed with the format! It really got their interest and attention!"

Moira Lugg, Manager Performance and Evaluation, South Australia

"Stacey, first I want to tell you how much I've enjoyed the class. It's been a real eye opener for me... I'm a member of a project that is trying to shift our culture. I had to laugh however, this team just had big boards created with our mission statement and values. The mission statement is: To engage and grow a raving fan base. That's it. No real explanation. When I asked the project lead how she thought we would know if we were successful, she said, "I was hoping everyone just felt better about things" and then she grinned. I have a meeting with her tomorrow to introduce her to PuMP."

Kim Smyly, Missouri USA

"Your style and materials are very approachable, and you explained everything so clearly that I never felt baffled ... The course is really designed with the learner in mind. Thanks!"

Vicky Stanbridge, Principal Adviser in a government organisation, Wellington, New Zealand

"I found the Performance Measure Blueprint Tele-course very valuable - not just because I learnt some great tools and concepts I can use in my role, but because the structure of the course suited my learning style perfectly. I was able to focus on the short sharp sessions without the fatiguing that happens in all-day courses. The scheduling of the calls was convenient as it allowed some reflection time but they weren't so far apart that I had to review before the next call. The resource website including the course notes, handouts and recordings was brilliant with everything located in one conveniet location and allowing me to listen to recordings multiple times. Overall, for me, this course in this format was the perfect mix and provided me with a lot of great new tools I was able to use in my role immediately."

Craig Pettett, Business Support Advisor in a Queensland-based utility

"I was surprised by the impact of your presentation and the opportunity to try out and discuss the techniques. There were quite a few ‘lights on’ moments for me during the course... Thanks again for an enjoyable and rewarding workshop."

Greg Hince, Analytical Chemist, Australian Antarctic Division

"Not only have I learnt a great methodology for performance measures from you, I have also gained a bit more insight and confidence that I can actually make a real difference in the business and wider community. And if no one has told you - your presentation skills are great."

Chris Dunbar, Principal Management Accountant, Queensland Treasury

"Stacey, congrats and thanks again for such a great Performance Measure Blueprint Workshop last week - it’s inspiring to be around people who love what they do!"

Michael Ford, Growth By Design Pty Ltd

"Stacey, thanks so much for your fantastic Performance Measure Blueprint Workshop last week - it’s really given us momentum. We finished our draft Results Map the day after the workshop. We are now getting into the Measure Design to verify measures for our new performance scorecard. And we're going to identify the measures we should use at division and department levels too. We are also going to hook into a symposium in May to display our Results Map and and new measures in a Measure Gallery to build more buy-in across the division - which will be fantastic. Full steam ahead!"

Kate Dellar, Team Leader - BT Performance Reporting, Suncorp

"Stacey, the workshop that you ran was revelational - truly. Simply put, the single most important question that I took away with me was a question you asked of me on the second morning: "What do you define as success for the organisation?" Well I've got to say that question took me about two or three days to answer properly. As a result, it's strengthened the focus in our organisation about what matters most."

Todd MacDougall, CEO, Corcom (www.corcom.org.au)

"I'm a big believer that performance measures are the focus of improvement, but have struggled to get the Balanced Scorecard to really work for us. We pilot tested Stacey's PuMP approach and the results really surprised us. We expected to get meaningful performance measures for our pilot team, but we got more value than that. Our employees now feel clearer about what their priorities are, they have ownership of their measures, they discovered they have more influence on how customers value their services. Over a year later, the pilot team is still building on the system that PuMP helped them establish, and we have applied PuMP throughout the rest of my division, resulting in the same outcome-focus, buy-in and focus on service improvement."

Michael Cottier, General Manager Corporate Services, QIC, Brisbane

"Just thought I'd email you to say hello and to also let you know that we used the Performance Measurement Blueprint to create our new Executive Scorecard. I just wanted to let you know that your methods have helped me with this project here and will continue to in the future as we further develop the Executive Scorecard into the future but also assist departments in developing their scorecards. So a big THANKS to you."

Alfonso Della Monica, Co-ordinator Corporate Strategy, City of Greater Geelong

"Hi Stacey, I have taken the Performance Measure Blueprint Audio training, scheduled a pilot and have recruited representatives from each department to apply your PuMP method. I really enjoyed taking the training and all of your exercises were really great. Now I am looking forward to helping others work through the steps to improve our performance measures. I am very pleased with the examples and the materials you have provided so I don't have to re-invent the wheel."

Janet Sawatsky, Corporate Measurement Consultant, Calgary

"I have found that PuMP (Stacey's methodology) creates a solid and shared understanding of strategic business outcomes as its starting point. By doing this, the PuMP methodology automatically focuses performance measurement on your strategic direction. As a performance measurement facilitator in a large organisation, using this methodology has made it easier for me to engage people at all levels to develop meaningful measures. It's given me the practical tools I need to perform my role."

Leona Olsen, Manager Business Performance, QR

The convenient, step-by-step, action-learning program for how to measure performance and KPIs.

This one-of-a-kind program teaches you how to overcome the most common practical struggles people face in trying to meaningfully measure what matters:

  1. trying to measure a strategy that seems immeasurable and is filled with vague words like efficient, effective, sustainable, quality, reliability and productive

  2. trying to find good performance measures that meaningfully track results, not activity

  3. trying to get people engaged in measurement, so they buy-in and have ownership of their measures to improve performance

No need for travel, no need to find 2 full days to leave the office, no need to dig deep into the training budget! With this convenient online program, you can learn the Performance Measure Blueprint at your own pace, in your own space.

How the Self-Paced (Replays Only) course works:

The self-paced version of the Performance Measure Blueprint program gives you access to the series of online lessons supported by video presentations, case studies, templates and comprehensive lesson workbooks.

You won't have to attend any live webinars - you can take each lesson whenever and where-ever you like.

Here's how you'll use the program during your self-paced program membership:

  • Log into the program's website, with your unique username and password.

  • Decide your own self-paced learning schedule, allocating 90 minutes to take each lesson, and around 1 or 2 hours to put what you learn into practice.

  • Start at Lesson 1 (either by watching the recording or joining the live webinar) and you're on your way!
